On arrival, the Mediterranean getaway begins with a tour of historic Istanbul. See the magnificent Roman Valens Aqueduct. Visit the Blue Mosque with its beautiful tiles, the Hippodrome where Roman chariot races were held, and St Sophia (Hagia Sophia) museum, at one time a cathedral and a mosque. Also, catch a glimpse of the Egyptian Column from the famous Karnak Temple. Be amazed by the long suspension Bosphorus Bridge which links European Turkey and Asian Turkey. Enjoy ferry cruising on the Sea of Marmara to cross the continent between Europe and Asia. From here, transfer to Canakkale.

Day 3CANAKKALE - TROY - KUSADASI

Travel to the legendary city of Troy and see an enormous reconstruction of the famous Trojan Horse before continuing on to Pergamon. Enter the Red Courtyard and the ruins of Asklepion, one of the most famous shrines and therapeutic centre in the ancient world. From here, take in the wonder and splendour of the Acropolis, the Temple of Athena and famous library, which is said to have contained 200,000 volumes. Along the way, visit a Turkish Leather. Showroom and witness a Turkish Fashion Show that showcases the most trendy leather products such as jackets, wallets, handbags, belts, hats etc. Continue to the pretty port of Kusadasi on the Aegean Sea.

Day 4KUSADASI - SELCUK -PAMUKKALE

Rise and shine, drive to Ephesus, visit the outdoor archeological museum at Selcuk where many of the excavated artifacts of Ephesus are on display. The House of the Virgin Mary, the final resting place of the mother of Christ, is spectacularly situated above the Ephesus Ruins and awaits everyone. Marvel at the colonnaded Arcadian Way, the Library of Celsus and the Amphitheatre. Stop at Artemis temple. One of the ancient seven wonders, best known as “Temple of Diana”. Continue to UNESCO Heritage Site – Pamukkale, see the ruins of ancient Hierapolis and Fairyland Terraces (Cotton Castle) and be enchanted by the glistening pools and cascades in scallop shell basins.

Day 5PAMUKKALE - ANTALYA

Proceed to the sunny Mediterranean coast of ancient Lycia. Embark on a sightseeing cruise on the Mediterranean Sea to see the partly-sunken ruins of Kekova. Kekova covers a large area comprising Kekova Island, Kale (the Castle) Village and Üçagiz (the Three Mouths) Village. A Lycian sarcophagus standing in the shallow water of the Simena Harbour is the most notable ruin. Other remains in the village are a 1st century AD Roman bath complex, a medieval castle, a small theater, cisterns and a necropolis. Next to Myra (Demre), was one of the earliest Lycian cities. Myra was renowned throughout the centuries as the city where St. Nicholas had lived during the 4th century AD. Visit the Saint Nicholas Church (Santa Claus) and his tomb,over which a chapel was subsequently erected.

Day 6ANTALYA

After breakfast, visit Hadrian's Gate, the Clock Tower at Kalekapisi, Republic Square with its dramatic statue and excellent views of the Mediterranean Coast and the distant Olimpos Mountains. Witness the Broken Minaret of the Korkut Mosque, which was built in 2nd century AD as a Roman temple. In 7th century AD it was converted into a Byzantine church in honor of the Virgin Mary, but was converted into a mosque three centuries later. The temple-church-mosque now lies in ruins, but the minaret has survived. Descending from the square, explore the narrow, winding streets of historic Old Antalya, filled with graceful Ottoman-era houses and gardens. Enjoy a relaxing walk through the Turkish Garden to marvel the magnificent Duden Waterfalls. Thereafter, depart to Aspendos which houses the best preserved Roman theatre in Turkey. Drop by the nearby Roman Substantial Aqueduct. The rest of the day is at leisure and avid shoppers may spend some time shopping at this romantic city by the Mediterreanean coast.

Day 7ANTALYA - KONYA -CAPPADOCIA

Proceed to Konya, the old capital of Anatolian Seljuk Empire, now Turkey’s most religious city and home of the mystic Whirling Dervish sect. Visit the 13th century ancient Caravanserai, a hotel for the ancient travelers on the Silk Road. Enter the fluted turquoise-domed Mevlana Tekke, a museum and national monument which contains the tomb of the Whirling Dervishes’ founder. Lay your eyes on the Karatay Medrese and Ince Minaret before driving to Cappadocia.

Day 8CAPPADOCIA

Today, be enchanted by the Underground City, Cappadocia’s sightseeing includes visits to the Pigeon Valley and the fascinating frescoed rock churches and chapels at UNESCO Heritage Site – Goreme Open-Air Museum. A photo-stop will be made at Uchisar “Castle” Village, a fantasyland of strange and wonderful works of man and nature. Stop at the Turkish Carpet Weaving Centre where a wide variety of locally handmade carpets are available. Proceed to Avanos Pottery Village, set on the banks of the Kizilirmak (Red River). Visit the Turkish Pottery Showroom and witness a cup-making demonstration which uses Cappadocian soil. Turkish-made plates, bowls, cups, pots, clocks etc. are available for purchase. Next, visit Turkish jewellery store. End the day with a visit to an ancient cave theatre and be entertained with a free flow of drinks and by a traditional Turkish performance (approximately 2 hours), “The Whirling Dervishes & Turkish Belly Dancing Show”.Recommended Optional Excursion: Hot Air Balloon Voyage

The morning will start with a brief stop at the picturesque Salt Lake before proceeding to Ankara to visit the Mausoleum of Ataturk which is located on an imposing hill in the Anittepe quarter of the city. Continue to thescenic countryside town Bolu.
